If I could repack my hospital bag? Maybe “If I could pack my hospital bag!”
I never had the chance to enjoy that part of the nesting process since Oliver decided to make his appearance 6 weeks early and being cooped up in a hospital 2.5 hours away from our home didn’t give us the opportunity to run home to grab necessities, we had to rely on willing visitors (thank you so much family!!) to rummage through our home and bring along what they thought we were asking for. It was a nightmare – underwear that was too small, a bra that was broken, no hairbrush, moisturizer, or lip balm and Ryan having to run out to the nearest shoppers to buy baby items with absolutely no knowledge or even myself to help him. It was rough, but we didn’t know any different so we got through it. Looking back now, I would never want to EVER experience that again. I just wish I had packed my bag the night before my water broke rather then planning to back it the next day! A day too late!
After spending a good week (over Christmas) in a hospital with nothing, I have a good list of items that I believe are necessities to pack in your hospital bag. I have broken it down into 3 list; one for baby, dad and mom.
Hopefully you found something that can help you on your big day! There are no wrong choices and nothing can take away from the miracle of life that you are about to experience. I wish you nothing but health and happiness in your journey, good luck to you and your growing family!
